Whooo! New movies!

Movie 57: Mon August 8th

The Little Prince
Directed by: Mark Osborne
Starring: Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Mackenzie Foy, Riley Osborne

Hands down my favorite movie of this year so far! The CGI is great, but the stop motion-paper animation was just perfect. With a great cast behind it, it really takes you on this amazing journey. It made me feel like a kid again, which is the greatest thing ever. If you have Netflix, I strongly urge you to watch it. 10/10

Suicide Squad
Directed by: David Ayer
Starring: Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman

I, personally, loved it. It has issues, geeked out a lot and had a lot of fun with it. I walked in wanting a more fantastical, weirder Dirty Dozen and that’s what it delivered. The cast was fun to watched, I thought it had character development, and I loved Joker. I think people wanted to hate it and that’s why. I wish people just went in to expect a brainless action movies like we did in the 80s. Fuck the critics, I really enjoyed it.

Movie 59: Wed August 10th

david-cross

David Cross: ‘Making America Great Again’
Stand up Special of David Cross

I really like David Cross’s stand up performances. He came out during the 90s, which I consider the renaissance period of stand up. I have to say that this set was very well written and he delivers it all phenomenally. He may not be in my top 10 favorites, but I am always down for a David Cross special. He was on point a lot, but a little too left-winged here and there. I would suggest watching it, but if you want to watch the best stand up on Netflix watch Bill Burr, Patton Oswalt, or John Mulaney.

The VVitch
Directed by: Robert Eggers
Starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw

Holy hell! I loved it. I loved every minute of it. The child actors in this film are phenomenal. The fact they can deliver these old-English dialogue so well is astounding. I highly suggest this movie if you like period films or slow-paced thrillers. Taylor-Joy was amazing as well. I can’t praise this film enough.

Movie 62: Sat August 13th

Gods of Egypt
Directed by: Alex Proyas
Starring: Brenton Thwaites, Nikolaj Coster-Waidau, Gerard Butler, Elodie Yung

Ok. I knew it would be bad, but I honestly always wanted to see it. I love ancient Greece/Rome and Egypt. It fascinates me. I will, first off, say I didn’t dislike it as much as I thought I would. It is horribly casted and probably the worst directing ever, but it still had a little bit of fun. The story was so grand, which probably would have worked better as a mini-series. I can’t say I hate it, but damn is it stupid. Last thought, Geoffrey Rush was the best character and single-handedly stole the movie. I can’t keep typing, it hurts.

Movie 63: Sun August 14th

10_Cloverfield_Lane

10 Cloverfield Lane
Directed by: Dan Trachtenberg
Starring: John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Gallagher Jr., Bradley Cooper

Wow… I really enjoyed Cloverfield when it came out years ago, but this may be a better watch. First off, even with Lizzy Caplan and TJ Miller, this movie’s cast is so great. Goodman is fantastic as always, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is perfect, and John Gallagher Jr. is just as great as the other two. The ending… man that was exactly what I wanted, I can’t lie! I love this movie for how many turns it takes and how different it allows itself to be. I thought it was going to be like ‘Room,’ but I was pleasantly surprised as it kept going! I think it was a great way to end this week! I highly suggest it. I want to see Cloverfield soon…

stardust

Stardust
Directed by: Matthew Vaughn
Starring: Charlie Cox, Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Mark Strong

I love this fucking movie. So damn fun. The cast is awesome, De Niro is hilarious, and fucking Supes is in it too?! I have seen this movie so many times and never realized it was Henry Cavill. Anyway, I have never read the book (I know, I suck), but damn if this isn’t one of my favorite fantasy films. Michelle Pfeiffer is still one of my Hollywood crushes and she is so fucking hot in this movie. Ricky Gervais is funny as always, but the highlight is seeing Peter O’Toole at the beginning. I miss seeing him in films… I could write so much about this movie, but I have shit to do. So fuck you.

PS: I love you
