I love spoof movies and I am happy for this week. Unfortunately, most of these movies I have seen prior, but I know they are great, so I have that going for me.

Movie 119: Mon Oct 10th

Directed by: Rick Morales
Starring: Adam West, Burt Ward, Julie Newmar, Jeff Bergman

So, I got to see this at the Arclight theater in Santa Monica for the Fathom event. I am so happy I got to see this on the big screen. I will start off with saying this is my top 5 favorite DC animated films and my ribs were hurting from me laughing so much. It was perfect. The voice acting is amazing, the writing was just phenomenal, and the use of alliteration was an astounding amazement. It is so nice to get away from the gritty Batman every once in a while and this movie was the perfect escape. Plus, I got to meet Jeff Bergman himself at the theater which was awesome!

Movie 120: Tues Oct 11th

not-another-teen-movie-2001-movie-coverNot Another Teen Movie
Directed by: Joel Gallen
Starring: Chyler Leigh, Jaime Pressly, Chris Evans, Eric Christian Olsen

This is one of my all-time favorite spoof movies. I saw it years ago in theaters with friends and I have watched it at least 30+ times since and I still love the shit out of it. Plus, you see so many people to have huge roles or careers afterwards, like Josh Radnor, Chris Evans, Samm Levine, Eric Christian Olsen, Sam Huntington, H. John Benjamin, and so on. It’s the last great spoof movies until Parker and Stone, Wright, and Wain took the mantle. I really do think this movie doesn’t get the love it deserves.

Movie 121: Wed Oct 12th

MPW-26581Airplane!
Directed by: David and Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams
Starring: Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Leslie Nelson, Lloyd Bridges

My all-time favorite spoof film. This movie is a staple comedy and you haven’t seen it, you are making poor life decisions. How dare you. Why are you still reading this? Get your ass to a store and buy this movie and ask Leslie Nelson for forgiveness. You sicken me.

All jokes aside, This movie is amazing.

122: Thurs Oct 13th

johnny_english_rebornJohnny English Reborn
Directed by: Oliver Parker
Starring: Rowan Atkinson, Rosamond Pike, Dominic West, Daniel Kaluuya

It may not be better than the first one, but I couldn’t find anything that would stream it for free. Luckily I had never seen it before and it is on Netflix. So I have made my matchstick…. That’s a joke in the, never-mind. It’s stupid, fun, and funny. I think it is actually a good sequel t, though  I don’t like it as much as the original, but it’s up there. The cast is amazing though. Gillian Anderson is awesome to see in this, Richard Schiff is randomly in it, a skinny Benedict Wong, and Burn Gorman. I don’t know what it is, but I have seen so many movies lately with Burn Gorman. I am not complaining, he is a great actor, but damn.

Directed by: Mel Brooks
Starring: Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis, Daphne Zuniga

A classic. I am a huge Mel Brooks fan and if I am going to watch spoof movies, I have to watch this one. The lines, the characters, and everything is so unforgettable and always a blast to watch every time.

Movie 124: Sat Oct 15th

austin-powers-international-man-of-mystery-1997-movie-posterAustin Powers: International Man of Mystery
Directed by: Jay Roach
Starring: Mike Myers, Elizabeth Hurley, Michael York, Robert Wagner

First off, I will have the theme stuck in my head for weeks. Secondly, I love revisiting this movie every couple of years. I really do think it is brilliant. It’s such a great parody of James Bond, more so than it’s sequels. It just has this tone that they couldn’t repeat. The thing about this week is that I love spoof movies and finding bad things is hard for me. Since they are so uplifting and reminding me of things I love, I can’t nitpick. I just sit back and enjoy. Especially since I am such a Bond fanatic. I would like to see a Austin Powers 4, maybe with a different actor and parody the Daniel Craig movies.

Movie 125: Sun Oct 16th

Directed by: David Wain
Starring: Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd, EVERYONE IS IN THIS MOVIE

I love this movie, however that wasn’t the case originally. When I first saw it 2 years ago, I thought it wasn’t funny at all. Then I saw They Came Together, then I saw the Netflix series, and watched it again. That changed everything. I fell in love and have watched it so many times. Again, another spoof classic. I also have to add that this cast is absolutely amazing and that it’s awesome they all came back for the Netflix series. I am very happy with this week.
