Hello my faithful Gatherers. As I write this I am recovering, literally. Last weekend was Long Beach Comic Con 2016 and it was a blast, and soon enough my birthday is on the horizon again. Another year celebrating life I tell you! Not that I am making that fact plain as day here in order to ask for requests…or am I? Of course not! No no, I am here to give you suggestions for what to read as September is slowly but surely ebbing into October. The days are getting cooler, and fall will be upon us before you know it. With that comes the need to start seeking warmth again, and finding pleasure by a warm fire and the graces of a good comic book. So lets get this underway, shall we??
My first pick goes to Micronauts Revolution #1, written by Cullen Bunn and drawn by Chris Panda. Anyone of course who is a fan of Micronauts will already be drawn to the title no doubt, but for those unaware of the awesomeness of these galactic beings, lets just say that this new series spawns a tale that will have the Micronauts questioning everything about the universe they once held to be true. Intrigue and action all in the same book! Available from http://www.idwpublishing.com/.
“LOST IN MICROSPACE! Plagued by scavengers, harried by agents of BARON KARZA, and guided by the mysterious TIME TRAVELERS-the MICRONAUTS make a HUGE discovery-one that will transform everything they thought they knew about their universe.”

Available in digital format from http://www.idwpublishing.com/ and https://www.comixology.com/ and in print from your LCS!
My second pick goes to Britannia #1, written by Peter Milligan and drawn by Juan Jose Ryp. Now this story should be one to satisfy the mystery solver and historian all in one but is also wholly recommended for those who love a good monster tale as well. Look into the story of Antonius Axia as he is commanded by the administration of Emperor Nero to investigate some strange happenings in Rome’s farthest northerly frontier in ancient Britain. As for what unnatural discovery he comes across, who among us can say for certain? All we know for sure is that the very tenuous peace of the Pax Romana may be at stake with what Axia discovers in barbaric ancient Britannia’s borders. Available from http://valiantuniverse.com/.
“On the fringes of civilization, the world’s first detective is about to make an unholy discovery…
Ruled by the Fates. Manipulated by the Gods. Commanded by Caesar. In the year 65 A.D., one’s destiny was not his own. At the height of Nero’s reign, a veteran of Rome’s imperial war machine has been dispatched to the farthest reaches of the colonies to investigate unnatural happenings… In the remote outpost of Britannia, Antonius Axia – the First Detective – will become Rome’s only hope to reassert control over the empire’s most barbaric frontier…and keep the monsters that bridge the line between myth and mystery at bay… From comics mastermind Peter Milligan (X-Statix, Shade the Changing Man) and incendiary artist Juan Jose Ryp (NINJAK, Clone) comes a psychological journey into terror, temptation, and bloodshed – presented in an all-new prestige format limited series! Prestige Format.”

And that’s all for this week, my fair and faithful Gatherers! Frights and spooks requiring ancient investigators coupled with iconic space warriors aplenty. These themes are what constantly, at least in my humble opinion, go often unnoticed in our search engines and comic shelves. So my humble suggestion to you guys and gals is to give these beauties a chance. Pick them up, read them and start a conversation. Leave comments and questions, but remember most of all Gatherers…GGG!
