Happy end of October, Gatherers! Once again we are at the end of the month and so many Picks have been provided.  Alas, there is one more week before we get our Halloween on so lets just see what I will suggest to you when you go to your local shop this week…or what you can click on from the convenience of your personal computer.

My first pick goes to Bloodshot U. S. A. #1, written by Jeff Lemire and drawn by Doug Braithwaite. Well well, it would seem Project Rising Sun has finally achieved the endgame it has sought for some time.  Technological capabilities of rendering cities, nations and entire continents as subservient to its will.  The means to create an entire ARMY of Bloodshots capable of being indestructible war machines.  What’s not to like guys and gals?  Available from http://www.valiantentertainment.com/.

“In Bloodshot we trust! Project Rising Spirit – America’s greatest exporter of classified weapons technology – has achieved a breakthrough: a contagious, airborne nanite dispersion prototype that can turn the population of any city into an army of indestructible soldiers. A doomsday virus capable of destroying an enemy nation from the inside out. A machine-made pathogen that can completely rewrite human physiology.”

Available in digital format from http://www.valiantentertainment.com/ and https://www.comixology.com/ and in print from your LCS!

My second pick goes to A Walk in Eden, a graphic novel written and drawn by Anders Nilsen.  This work quite simply is an effective go-to for the creator, whether in words or in brush strokes, when dabbling in his or her trade of creation.  Nilsen captures all of this and more in this world that is painted for the reader, albeit without human beings present but with just as powerful a message as any typical artbook and just as effective in intent, if not more so! Available from https://drawnandquarterly.com/.

“A keen observerres contained within, Anders Nilsen uses lush, inky lines to craft an enchanting, meditative journey for your coloring tools. A Walk in Eden is a fantastical view of primeval creation, with an exquisite mix of sprawling landscapes and close-up examinations of plants, fungi, and minerals. Though this is a world void of humans, here and there are small reminders of our presence. Nilsen’s world is intricate, playful, and inspired, waiting for you to make it your own.”

There we have it for the month of October, Gatherers! Whether in looking at the creation of worlds or abhorrent technologies that can take over that said world, there are always rarities to get from your store or search engine.  And coming in to the Halloween festivities, be sure to enjoy these and others.  Pick them up. Read them. Generate a conversation and then leave a comment or two!  But remember most of all, Gatherers…GGG!
