May is in full swing, Gatherers and friends! And with it comes the resounding waves of spring as temperatures get warmer and warmer. Summer is just around the corner people, and though there is no finer weather than to break out a good indie comic and get to reading, I’ve always found the month of May to be my favored reading month. Now whether it is for you or not, there are nevertheless lots of new picks to be found coming from the heart of the indie comics medium. So lets see what the blooming first week of the month has to offer you!
This first pick is just so me. I love Funko Pops and I love the Heroes in a Half Shell. What better way to honor the two of them by having both great geek icons combined into one absurd and yet fun adventure?! Well listen in on this tale as the Turtles catch wind of a new breakfast based crime that is in progress and it requires them to find the source of just what wrong is being committed. And since this story is based off of the original cartoon series, it just adds to the fun!

This second pick is just a ‘no brainer’ to anyone who has read indie comics for the last twenty something odd years or for anyone that wishes to see just how the thriving reality of indie comics came to be. Youngblood touched us ALL as young adults and children in the early 1990’s with this adventure brought on by the makers of what would become Image Comics, and now things are full circle with a new and exciting tale to be said. Old faces and new band together in the mission to search for a friend who has gone missing. Listen in on this epic tale that reboots the world that started up the modern indie comics age as we know it!

May is here and with it the promise of so many great issues to be read and shared. Classic oldies but goodies now brought into the fold for a new generation. Yeah, that’s the PERFECT theme for this week. Something old and something new, right? Well it seems to fit! Anyway, the point is, these books are to be enjoyed and can be obtained simply with a click of a button from the sanctity of your own computer or tablet. But I’ll challenge you to go a step further and support these publishers and more importantly, the local shops that sell them by buying the hardcopy issues directly. Read them and enjoy them but also let your friends enjoy them. Spark up a conversation about them and while you’re at it, leave a comment or two! But more importantly Gatherers, remember…GGG!
