Happy Mother’s Day, Grand Geeks and Gatherers! I hope everyone had a wonderful day celebrating with that special woman in their lives and that all is well! For me, it was an especially brutal work week and I am just glad to be on my weekend now. All I look forward to in the meantime is some rest and relaxation and nothing more. But hey, before I go ahead to laze off, let’s see what looks good this week in the indie comics world!

Belit & Valeria: Swords vs. Sorcery #1
Writer(s): Max Bemis
Artist(s): Rodney Buchemi
Cover Artist(s): Marco Turini, Olivier Vatine, Leirix, Rodney Buchemi
Publisher: Ablaze Publishing

Synopsis: “Robert E. Howard’s Hyboria UNLEASHED! See its true nature, its unrestrained violence and sexuality…”

So it seems that a book of two of Conan’s old flames is what’s in order! One has returned back to life from the briny depths while the other is along for the ride as the prisoner of the former. Belit wants answers and adventure again, and it brings them on travels across Hyboria that will bring them into conflict with the gods themselves. One has to wonder if the Cimmerian will make some sort of cameo, however?!

Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer #1
Writer(s): Mitch Iverson
Artist(s): Stefano Martino
Cover Artist(s): Simone Bianchi, Frank Frazetta
Publisher: Opus Comics

Synopsis: “Frank Frazetta’s legendary creation Death Dealer returns to life in collaboration with Frazetta Girls…”

One of the most legendary fantasy characters of all time, envisioned by one of the most legendary fantasy artists of all time. Can all of us fans just say…hell to the yes?! A new multiverse is borne unto this creation from some of the industry’s greatest written and artistic luminaries in collaboration with the Frazetta Girls! The artwork alone is something truly splendid to behold. And may it be a story we call can enjoy!

And there we have it for a fantasy-filled week, Grand Geeks and Gatherers! On one hand, we find a resurrected pirate and her prisoner on a not-so-fun-filled adventure in Hyboria while on the other we see a most beloved creation of Frank Frazetta get a new chance at an ongoing series to satisfy our fantasy fandoms. These tales and so many more await you at the mere click of a button on your keyboards or at the touch of a screen on your phones and/or tablets. But since many of you support local business, I will encourage you to head down to your local comic store this Wednesday and pick up the hard copy issues themselves. Read them and share with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember…GGG!
