June is at an end, my dear Grand Geeks. But the summer season is just emerging into full on blaze. The next month is going to be crazy with all the material that will come to you indie readers, but more importantly, the Gathering will once again be heading down to San Diego for Comic Con International. Fun times ahead my friends, but never too crazy to still provide you with all those amazing suggestions on what to get at your local stores. Let’s check them out!
Shadow Roads #1
Writer(s): Cullen Bunn, Brian Hurtt
Artist(s): A.C. Zamudio, Carlos Zamudio
Cover Artist(s): A.C. Zamudio, Carlos Zamudio, Brian Hurtt
Synopsis: “The world is thinnest at The Crossroads, a mythical plane that serves as a doorway throughout the universe. It is here that a band of adventurers throughout the Wild West gather, brought together by Gord Cantrell and Abigail Redmayne with a singular purpose: to fight back against the creatures that would endanger the sanctity of all creation. SHADOW ROADS is the set in the world that remains after the conclusion of Cullen Bunn, Brian Hurtt and Bill Crabtree’s critically-acclaimed series, The Sixth Gun.”
Wow, one would have thought the conclusion to Sixth Gun brought everything to an end. Wrong! Join adventurers Gord and Abigail as they rustle up a band to combat the very evil things that would put the security of all reality at risk. And at the Crossroads no doubt these monsters are up to no good in trying to make reality implode. Now whether or not good or evil wins the day is solely up to your decision to get in on this six-shooter, universal traveling adventure, partner!
Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer #1

This has got to be every mystery story’s wish come true. A new story involving the legendary private detective second almost to none. Mickey Spillane’s plots come to entice us once again with the writing savvy of Max Allan Collins whom you all know from the Road to Perdition graphic novel. It goes without saying that this comic is a must for any Mike Hammer fan out there but it’s also something any modern day indie reader would enjoy without hesitation. What new mystery awaits Hammer out there, who knows? And there’s certain to be a good supporting female role that makes the story all the more worthwhile. Find it before Spillane returns from the grave to find you!
And there we have it, folks. Summers ablaze with tales of Wild West adventures across the universe combined with new tales of everyone’s favorite private eye. These gems and more are what await you at the mere click of a button on your keyboard, tablet or phone. But being the good and devout indie readers that I know you all are, you are instead going to march down to your local comic store this Wednesday and pick up the hard copies themselves. Read them and share with your friends. Start a conversation and please leave a comment or two. But most importantly, Gatherers, remember…GGG!
