Hello to all you wonderful Grand Geeks and Gatherers out there! I hope all is well with you as we already get to the halfway point of the year and get that much closer to normalcy in our lives. For me, I am just gonna enjoy my day, read some books, and have me a fun session of tabletop. But before I get to all that, let’s see what looks good this week in the indie comics world!
Black Jack Demon #1
Writer(s): Nick Hermes
Artist(s): Nick Hermes
Cover Artist(s): Nick Hermes
Publisher: Literati Press
Synopsis: “A boy crosses the American old west in search of the stranger that brutally murdered his father after destroying their family mine. Bent on revenge, the young man soon realizes that this simple killer is something much, much darker. The Black-Jack Demon is a genre-breaking Western revenge tale focused on young Silas’ journey through the changing American landscape…”
This tale almost seems like the plot for ‘No Country for Old Men’ in reverse, with our protagonist being a young lad trekking the Wild West in search of a killer that brutally slayed his family and destroyed their property, especially since it seems this killer is a lot more than just what he seems!
Rick and Morty: Rick’s New Hat! #1
Writer(s): Alex Firer
Artist(s): Fred Stresing
Cover Artist(s): Fred Stresing, Sarah Stern
Publisher: Oni Press
Synopsis: “When Rick and Morty buy the greatest hat in all the multiverse, it attracts an evil so banal that even our intrepid adventurers may not be able to stop it. In true comics-event tradition, this one features everyone from Rick and Morty to Mr. Poopybutthole, Pickle Rick, and MORE. A faux-crossover event from the evil geniuses behind Rick and Morty Presents: Birdperson!”
Well it seems that this very undynamic duo has managed to get themselves into hot water again. But now it seems that its all over some hat that brings them into contact with some unspeakably ridiculous evil. And to top it off, you get a crossover of so many characters thrown in the mix. What’s not to love?!
And there we have it for the week, my fellow Gatherers and Grand Geeks! Tales of vengeance across the Old West combined with our favorite drunken scientist and his sidekick bringing evil into the world again with the finding of a simple accessory. Stories like these are available at the mere click of a button on your keyboards or at the touch of a screen on your tablets and/or phones. But since I know you all love supporting local businesses, I will encourage you to head down to your comic shop this Wednesday and pick up the hardcopy issues for yourselves! Read them and share with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember…GGG!
