Happy Independence Day to all Gatherers and Grand Geeks that celebrate! And to those that do not I offer you a hearty welcome and good day! Summer is in full bloom here and with it the temperatures rise and the fragrance of grilling can be smelled over the horizon. I look forward to some much needed grilled fare this fine day and a nice sparkly show in the evening. But before I do so, let’s see what looks good this week in the indie comics world, shall we?!
No’madd the Unconquerable: The City of Empty Towers #1 (of 6)
Writer(s): Andrew Kafoury
Artist(s): Aaron McConnell, Lee Moyer
Cover Artist(s): Aaron McConnell, Lee Moyer
Publisher: Battle Quest Comics
Synopsis: “A strange ship falls from the night sky and Tyon, Goddess of the moon, sends No’madd to confront her enemies – mysterious beings from the stars. Who are these ravagers? What do they want? And how can No’madd hope to defeat them alone?”
Ahhhhh titles like these are music to my eyes. A good swords & sorcery tale! In this fantasy realm, it seems that a mysterious vessel has fallen from the sky. Crashlanded or safely parked, it is hard to say. But from its hatches is ushered forth a horde of strange monsters from the stars. The moon goddess must send her champion, No’madd, to counter and defend the world from them. Alas, as much as he is unconquerable, does he really stand a chance to fight them all on his own?!

Cover Artist(s): Walter Flanagan
Publisher: Blue Juice Comics
Synopsis: “William ‘The Wizard’ Gardener is a reclusive comic book creator and artist who has been the sole voice of the legendary Psychedelic Knights of the 5th Dimension for decades. But William grows old and tired, and his once-revered comic book series is now relegated to flea markets and bargain bins across the world. Years ago, William enlisted the help of up-and-coming writer/artist Kurt ‘The Great One’ Gideon to carry on the Knights legacy…”
When a comic book creator and recluse needs help of his old has-been artist-writer to keep the 5th Dimension’s minions at bay, you know something is up! William Gardner needs to do just that in seeking the help of his former protege Kurt Gideon. Problem is, the latter is even more of a has-been than the creator. But considering that this team-up doesn’t center around writing or artistry, perhaps this union is just what is needed to keep things in balance?!
