Hello to you wonderful Gatherers out there suffering through the heat. I trust you are finding ways to keep cool, whether by consuming copious amounts of ice cream or popsicles, enjoying air conditioning, or even going for a swim. I’m doing all three and more this fine balmy day but in addition am also taking advantage of the heat to stay out of the sun’s rays and pull up something interesting to read. But enough of my summertime blues, let’s see what suggestions I shall give to you, hmm?!

Synopsis: “A perfect future of intergalactic travel and community. Every newly discovered planet is unified culturally through a monolithic structure known as the Galactic Relay. Although the towering monument is meant to inspire conformity of ideas, technology, and progress – many resent the foreign structure. Jad Carter, a Relay employee, must keep the peace and act as an emissary to new civilizations. But when he finds the Relay’s mythological creator, Hank Donaldson, his idea of reality and the universe shatters…”
A great thing about a story like this is that it seems to encompass a little bit of everything that is good about science fiction coupled with fantasy and brings it all into an amazing coherent structure for new readers to enjoy. Follow the tales of an intergalactic emissary to new worlds only to find his very world on the brink of ending upon new discoveries.

Synopsis: “In the year 2055, Detroit is a nightmarish city in need of salvation. A series of brutal murders have taken place and schizophrenic Detective Aiden McCormick has 72 hours to solve the case. Will Aiden be able to catch the killer and maintain his grip on reality?”
What struck my interest immediately was the synopsis of story regarding Detroit as a being of a nightmarish character in the near future. One cannot help but wonder if such an assertion can be made about the Detroit of the modern day. Alas, McCormick is tasked with tracking down the one responsible for a killing spree throughout the city. Simple enough except that he is a bit of a disadvantage with his schizophrenia on the horizon. As for whether it will befuddle his attempt to catch the killer or prove to be the necessary ingredient toward this goal, one has only to flip the page!
And there we have it my fine Grand Geeks. Sci-fi tales of intergalactic monoliths along with futuristic urban schizophrenic cops to satisfy all of your indie reading needs. These are but two of the many fine gems you’ll find at the mere click of a button on your keyboard or the screen of your phone or tablet. But I will encourage you to take that extra step and head down to your local comic store and show your support for them by buying the hard copies themselves. Read them and share with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember…GGG!
