Howdy Gatherers and Grand Geeks! The Twelve Days of Christmas/Festivus are now at an end. The holiday seasons are officially done. New Years is done and over with, and 2021 swings in full force. We have survived another year and I myself look forward to all the new books the indie world will grace us with in the coming months. Today I nuzzle by the fireplace and enjoy some hot candy cane laced cocoa while enjoying some indie books. But let’s see what looks good first this week, shall we?
Scout’s Honor #1
Writer(s): David Pepose
Artist(s): Luca Casalanguida
Cover Artist(s): Andy Clarke
Publisher: Aftershock Comics
Synopsis: “Years after a nuclear apocalypse, a new society has risen from the ashes…and their bible is an old Ranger Scout manual. A young Ranger Scout named Kit has endured the harsh survivalist upbringing needed to conquer the irradiated Colorado Badlands. But after discovering a terrible secret once lost to history, Kit must risk everything on a dangerous quest to uncover the truth behind the Ranger Scouts’ doctrine…”
In this post-apocalyptic wasteland, a young Ranger Scout uses the skills acquired in youth to go on a quest discovering a lost secret of the very organization held most dear. Just what revelations will be found out though? Read on friends!
Wrong Earth Night and Day #1
Writer(s): Tom Peyer
Artist(s): Juan Castro, Jamal Igle
Cover Artist(s): Jamal Igle
Publisher: Ahoy Comics
Synopsis: “The vengeance-dealing Dragonfly sticks it to the man! The acrobatic sleuth Dragonflyman assists the police! These alternate-earth versions of the same masked crimefighter meet face-to-face for the first time in this new series by the original creators of the smash-hit The Wrong Earth!…”
A perfect example of when world’s collide basically! Dragonfly is from one reality and his counterpart Dragonflyman is from another. One is good and the other inherently walks the fine line. And when they cross paths, will it lead to a team-up or come to all out conflict? Hard to say friends, but stay tuned!
And there we have it for the first full week of 2021, folks! Tales of heroes and villains from alternate realities crossing each other’s paths combined with post-apocalyptic ranger scouts finding out long buried truths. These stories and so many others are available at the mere click of a button on your keyboards or at the touch of a screen on your phones and/or tablets. But since I’m sure you want to show that extra bit of devotion to local business, I encourage you to head down to your comic stores this Wednesday to pick up the hard copy issues themselves. Read them and share with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember, GGG!
