Happy December, folks! We are twenty days out to Christmas and it just gets colder outside as each day passes on. Soon the fall is going to ebb into full on winter and we are trading our pumpkin spice for egg nog and gingerbread. Both of those are my personal favorites for the holiday, but I choose to enjoy them while wrapped up in a nice throw blanket and reading a nice indie book or two. As for what books to enjoy with your ‘nog and cookies, read on my friends!

PREVIEWSworld

Shenanigans.  Those are what you will find when you have a con artist morphed into a canine allying with his half-demonic daughter to outrun some powerful forces that want them both dead.  Of course, whether or not this chase will be successful remains to be seen…after all these two do not exactly see eye to eye!

Nice #1 (of 4)
Writer(s): Dagen Walker, Joseph Ettiner
Artist(s): Marc Rene
Cover Artist(s): Tula Lotay, Marc Rene
Publisher: American Gothic Press

Synopsis: “It’s a nice day for a murder… American Gothic Press’s first series collaboration with Echo Lake Entertainment begins here! Kevin and Jose are twenty-something hipsters cruising through life in a fancy car, drinking at bars and chatting about nothing, except when their mysterious employer sends them on errands that may involve killing people. More often they’re expected to just clean up after the excitement is over. But a deranged cop’s personal investment in the organization they work for is about to change everything.”

PREVIEWSworld

It’s certainly never an expectation of the clean-up crew to handle the actual contract of killing…until now.  In this new and exciting four-issue miniseries, Kevin and Jose are thrown into a new element over which they have no control when new variables are thrown into the apparatus that employs their services.  Something tells me this will not go over quite well.

And there we have it for the beginning of our cold and wintry month of December, Grand Geeks and Gatherers!  Indie book tales spanning the adventures of magically-morphed hustlers and half-demon associates along with hipster professionals becoming contract killers.  These stories and so many others await you at the mere click of a button on your computer keyboard or at the touch of a screen on your tablet or phone.   But being the mindful and supportive of local business that I trust you all are, I will encourage you also to head down to your local stores this Wednesdays and pick up the hard copies themselves.  Read them and share with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember…GGG!
