Happy pre-New Year’s Eve, folks! We have come to the end of 2020 and honestly I am glad to see it just about out the door. The weather is nice and cold now so even as I write this I’m nice and bundled up in multiple layers and enjoying hot coffee with spiked egg nog. I do intend on getting to much needed indie reading later, but before I do that, let’s see what looks good this week!
Fearless Dawn: The Return of Old Number Seven #1 (one-shot)
Writer(s): Steve Mannion
Artist(s): Steve Mannion
Cover Artist(s): Steve Mannion
Publisher: Albatross Funnybooks
Synopsis: “Troubled Special Agent “Old Number Seven” teams up with Fearless Dawn to investigate livestock mutilations down South Jersey way. Could it be The Jersey Devil? Tune in to find out the truth in the next pulse-pounding issue of Fearless Dawn!”
A union of oldies and newbies in the making! It seems Special Agent “Old Number Seven” teams up with Agent Fearless Dawn to investigate strange occurrences in the South Jersey region, most notably livestock mutilations. If this is the work of the Jersey Devil, then you know these two have their work cut out for them! See what unfolds in midst of this paranormal investigation.
Invader Zim Quarterly Holiday Special #1
Writer: Eric Trueheart
Artist(s): Aaron Alexovich
Cover Artist(s): Aaron Alexovich, Warren Wucinich
Publisher: Oni Press
Synopsis: “The holidays are upon us and we come bearing gifts! This Invader ZIM holiday special boasts THREE festive stories: The Ghosts of Fistmas pay ZIM a visit, a floating Santa-being vs. hive-mind aliens, and we peer into Professor Membrane’s past to learn the origins of his anti-Santa ways. All that PLUS more bonus deranged winter fun!”
Two of my most favorite things combined into one comic..Invader Zim and the holidays! We find three festive stories and more in this book, including a visit to Zim by the Ghosts of Fistmas, Santa-beings fighting hive-minded aliens, and Professor Membranes’ views on Santa himself. A holiday-infested adventure!
And there we have it for not only the week but for the remainder of 2020, Grand Geeks and Gatherers! I hope you have enjoyed our many trips into the indie-reading world this year, and just around the corner there will be even more to come. These stories and others are available at the mere click of a button on your keyboards or at the touch of a screen on your tablets and/or phones. But in these uncertain times I would encourage you to always show your extra measure of devotion and had down to the comic shops themselves to pick up the hard copy issues, many of which offer curbside pickup! Enjoy them and share with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember…Happy New Year, and GGG!
