Howdy you adorable Grand Geeks and Gatherers! It seems the heatwave has come smashing into the Southern California area, forcing me to either stay in doors with some much needed air conditioning or by the pool under some heavy canopy and shade. One way or another the enjoyment of my fandoms continue and indie books continue to remain a popular past time of mine. Let’s see what I will suggest to you this week!
Cardinal Dagon #1 (of 3)
Writer(s): Massimo Rosi
Artist(s): Giuseppe Costabile
Cover Artist(s): Giuseppe Costabile
Publisher: Behemoth Comics
Synopsis: “Enter the Cardinal, a scoundrel. He loves women; he sings karaoke, has bad taste and goes around like a gigolo and a dandy. After the death of the Pope, it’s entirely up to him to bring about the ruin of Earth, in his own way of course.”
Sometimes you just gotta have a narrative where religion is parodied. And in this new three part miniseries, you get just that with Cardinal Dagon, who seems entirely on par with being a Rasputin for the modern pop culture age. Enjoying the finer things in life, Dagon whores himself out to life’s pleasures but then seeks more when the Pontiff passes and it’s up to him to take up the reins of power.
Street Fighter: 2020 Swimsuit Special #1
Cover Artist(s): Adam Warren, Jonboy Meyers
Publisher: Udon Entertainment
Synopsis: “The World Warriors return for their annual trip to the beach with the Street Fighter 2020 Swimsuit Special! Everyone from Chun-Li to M.Bison hits the sand in their favorite swimwear, illustrated by the top artists of UDON!”
As summertime blazes on, we see a return of the famous World Warriors back to the beach in this annual swimsuit edition for 2020! Read on as we find Chun Li, Cammy, Bison and so many others take to fun and sun at the seaside. Honestly though something tells me that the fun and sun festivities won’t remain civil for long considering the nature of what these World Warriors do for a living. But hey, let fun be had while the getting’s good!
And there we have it for the week, folks! Tales of libertine cardinals mixed in with World Warrior shindigs at the beach. These stories and so many more great indie books await you at the mere click of a button on your keyboards or at the touch of a screen on your tablets and/or phones. And in addition, many local stores do have curbside pickup, so please consider showing your support for them by getting the hard copy issues as well. Read them and share with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember…GGG!
