Howdy all you Gatherers and Grand Geeks out there! I hope all is well with you. As for me its been quite an exhausting work week so all I plan on doing, besides indie reading of course, is to do a whole lot of nothing and just recuperate. But before I go into this quasi-lazy mode, let’s see what looks good this week in the indie comics realm!
20 Fists #1 (of 3)
Writer(s): Frankee White
Artist(s): Kat Baumann
Cover Artist(s): Kat Baumann
Publisher: Source Point Press
Synopsis: “This is a comic about fist fights and bad romance. The No Names are new to the 20 Fists Fight League. As they begin to make a name for themselves the worst possible thing happens: their leader Chel falls for Billie, the leader of their rival crew The Big Jackets. Now, with their crews about to meet up for another battle, Chel and Billie need to decide… to make love or war?”
This is like a mixture of a Lady Gaga song meeting Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club. It seems that the lead fighters for two opposing groups in an underground fighting league have fallen for each other. Problem is, they are enemies. Or are they lovers?
Belle: King of Serpents #1 (one-shot)
Writer(s): Dave Franchini
Cover Artist(s): Igor Vitorino, Harvey Tolibao, David Nakayama
Publisher: Zenescope Entertainment
Synopsis: “A greater evil has been slipping into the Grimm Universe lately, and not one corner of it will be left safe. Belle is going to find out firsthand as she comes face-to-face with one of the most vicious and deadly creatures in all of all of existence, the King of Serpents!”
It sure does seem that the Grimm Universe is getting its fair share of evil lately. Now apparently the King of Serpents is to be reckoned with and all hell is breaking loose. Its up to Belle to face off against this ultimate foe and see that justice be done. But is this a challenge she will be able to face on her own? Time will tell!
And there we have it for the week, folks! Tales of female warriors taking up the challenge of serpentine kings combined with underground fight clubs in midst of bad romances. These stories and much more await you at the mere click of a button on your keyboards or at the touch of a screen on your tablets and/or phones. But hey, they’re also available at your local comic book shop, so why not head down to them this Wednesday and show your support for their business? Many of them offer curbside pickup still! But alas, read these fine selections and share them with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember…GGG!
