Howdy to all you Grand Geeks and Gatherers out there! It seems some semblances of society are open but alas, it still also seems our comic shops and nerdy establishments continue to be on lockdown. Suffice it to say though the gears of geekery roll on and our fandoms continue. So let’s see what good indie reading material I can suggest for you this week!
The Osiris Path #1
Writer(s): Brockton McKinney, Corey Kalman, Christian Moran
Artist(s): Daniel Arruda Massa, Walt Barna
Cover Artist(s): Justin Greenwood, Brad Simpson
Publisher: Behemoth Comics
Synopsis: “An archaeologist is recruited to join a covert, military space program where he and his team must face a black magic cult that will stop at nothing to prevent the crew from deciphering the meaning of The Osiris Path. The Osiris Path is like Indiana Jones in space!”
The fact that this is likened to Indiana Jones-in-space story is all I would ever need to get this title, as well as anyone who loves those two topics. But long story short an archaeologist must aid a military space program in determining what the Osiris Path is. And these black magic cultists just aren’t having it.
Charles Band’s Deadly Ten Presents: The Hourglass #1
Writer(s): Shawn Gabborin, Brockton McKinney
Artist(s): Jethro Morales
Cover Artist(s): Jason Strutz
Publisher: Full Moon Comix
Synopsis: “What would you do with limitless wishes, only for a moment? When Avan Harris finds an ancient hourglass, he accidentally summons the jinn, Malik, and is presented with just such a dilemma! Avan wants to change the world – but with an iron fist! Can his city survive? The Hourglass: Infinite Power, Limited Time!”
We all find the classic story of the diamond-in-the-rough discovering a magic lamp and wanting to make some subtle changes before making one right choice to set things right. And it seems that in this new story of that Avan Harris is just that, until we realize he wants to make changes for the world with him at the head of it. And on top of that, this genie of this hourglass seems to be a bit on the evil side, not to mention that the wishes he grants must be given within the scope of limited time only! Decisions, decisions really! Something tells me this tale is the epitome of the advice that one must be careful what they wish for lest they actually get it!
And there we have it for the week, folks! Indiana Jones-like stories set in outer space combined with evil genie hourglass adventures. These tales and more are available at the mere click of a button on your keyboards or at the touch of a screen on your phones and/or tablets. But still do show what support you can to your local comic shops, many of which offer curbside delivery now! Enjoy these stories and share with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember…GGG!
