Hello Gatherers and Grand Geeks aplenty out there! I hope everyone is doing well and continuing to live the fandom life. I know I sure am. Today I plan on enjoying some much needed time to myself by enjoying some comics and tabletop roleplaying games. A good cup of coffee or two and some quality time hanging with family. But before I do so, let’s see what looks good this week in the indie comics world!
Startup: Starting Point #1
Writer(s): Darin Henry
Artist(s): Craig Rousseau
Cover Artist(s): Sal Buscema
Publisher: Binge Books
Synopsis: “The sensational speedster called Startup wowed you in The Heroes Union! Then she amazed you in The Blue Baron! Now see how her crime-fighting career began in this triple-sized, self-contained Binge Book extravaganza! Darin Henry (Seinfeld) and Craig Rousseau (Young Hellboy) combine their titanic talents to bring you the most original origin story in superheroic history!‘
Rene Garcia-Gibson tried an experimental drug to reduce her weight and in the process earned supermetabolism and superspeed as a side effect! Now see her race to glory in this self-contained tale. Who doesn’t love a good origin story?!
Bonyeer the Aromatic #1
Writer(s): Hirano Piyotycho Masanori
Artist(s): Hirano Piyotycho Masanori
Cover Artist(s): Hirano Piyotycho Masanori, Erik Klaus, Owen Gieni, Honne
Publisher: Keenspot Entertainment
Synopsis: “Japanese sensation Hirano “Piyotycho” Masanori makes his English-language comic book debut! Bonyeer the Aromatic is a world-famous, treasure-hunting zombie-killer, but she has an embarrassing secret – her zombie-killing success is the result of Death-Dealing armpit stink, and the only thing keeping the world safe from her smell is an Odor-Neutralizing hoodie! But when fighting monsters works up a serious sweat, there’s no stopping the funk from flying!”
Sometimes it pays to be the hero in midst of an undead apocalypse. But when the heroism comes as a result of one’s armpit sweat glands, is it really worth it?!
And there we have it for the week, folks! Stories of stinky bioweapons of apocalyptic proportions combined with speedsters arising from experimental weight-loss drugs. These kinds of stories and others are available at the mere click of a button on your keyboards or at the touch of a screen on your phones and/or tablets. But since many of you are supporters of local business, I encourage you to head down to your comic shop this Wednesday to pick up the hardcopy issues themselves. Read on and share with your friends. Start a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two. But most importantly, remember…GGG!
