Welcome to another panel discussion on The Grand Geekery! This discussion will be about the massive music influence on the anime convention community and those who are part of it! They will be talking about their starts, adoption of music in cons, battle of the bands, and when the pandemic is over, what will be the next obstacles! Listen in!
Formed in 2010 to compete in a Battle of the Bands competition, this group of musicians combined their passion for music and anime, giving creative birth to “Midnight Shinigami”. They have been traveling to local conventions to share their favorite anime songs to the masses and have released their first album, “Kioku//Memories” in December 2017. Midnight Shinigami’s members are just as diverse as their musical influences and playing styles. From soft ballads to hard-driving metal, they’re sure to have something in their repertoire that’ll make anyone drop dead in pure aural bliss.

Captain Savvy’s Singalong Crew
Originating in Southern California, the band started as a pet project for lead vocalist Samuel “Captain” Khosravi. After a successful debut at Anime Conji in 2013, the band started attracting various musicians to their line up including keyboardist Aoi Khosravi and bassist Ben Vete. CSSC has now been featured at several conventions and local specialized events and becomes a staple in the Los Angeles anime scene. In January 2019 they were honored with the title of Anime Los Angeles battle of the band’s champions.
