Greetings Gatherers, and to the ides of November we find ourselves once again.  Many of us are either gearing up for Thanksgiving or still riding on the greatness that was Thor: Ragnarok or find themselves in keen anticipation of Justice League in theaters.  I am currently in the process of all three things and more but certainly haven’t forgotten you guys and gals.  So let’s see what I shall recommend to you this mid-November day!

Now, in American dystopia after the “Lady Last Word Incident”, a click-bait headline writing “journalist” holds the key to a med-tech conspiracy that could turn people into gods for the price of days off their lives. But in a world where news is tailored to every viewpoint, will anyone believe her? A sci-fi superhuman epic from Tim Seeley, the writer of Revival and Grayson, and breakout art sensation Priscilla Petraites!”

PREVIEWSworld

In a day and age in which dystopian stories seem to be a dime a dozen with regard to quality, this new series offers something I believe to be fresh and inviting to the realm of indie books.  After all, when you come across a world where news is tailor-made to the eye of the beholder coupled with conspirators who sell superpowers for money, what’s not to enjoy about this post-apocalyptic reality? And in midst of all this, can one even believe a journalist who holds secrets to what is wrong with this dystopian world?  Would anyone care?  Oh yeah and anything Tim Seeley is automatically golden.  Just saying!

STL062017Ninja-K #1

Artist(s): Tomas Giorello
Cover Artist(s): Trevor Hairsine, Lucas Troya, Tonci Zonjic
Publisher: Valiant

Synopsis: “A NEW CAN’T-MISS ONGOING SERIES! From acclaimed writer Christos Gage (Netflix’s Daredevil) and superstar artist Tomas Giorello (X-O MANOWAR), the United Kingdom’s most dreaded intelligence operative delves into the cold, calculating world of espionage and international intrigue!
For nearly a century, MI-6, the most elite branch of Britain’s clandestine intelligence service, has honed a ruthlessly effective, top-secret division – THE NINJA PROGRAMME – into one of its nation’s most finely wielded weapons. Tasked as the first and last line of defense for queen and country, this small shadow army of agents and assassins has produced a succession of notable assets, including NINJA-A, the Queen’s silent weapon of World War I; NINJA-E, the globetrotting secret agent that pulled the Cold War back from the brink of armageddon…”

PREVIEWSworld

From its inception in Valiant’s first phase in the early nineties, Ninja-K continues to be a necessary staple of the publisher’s reality.  And with a new series devoted to MI-6’s most elite secretive organization, Ninja-K will reach to a new generation of readers to see just what an asset these practical super-soldiers provide to Her Majesty’s Commonwealth.  Only problem is, apparently members of its rank-and-file are now being targeted by some unknown enemy.  And its up to Colin, aka Ninja-K, to investigate this unfortunate state of affairs.

It was quite the week for superhero stories and dystopian literature, dear friends!  And coming from the likes of powerhouse writers such as Tim Seeley and Christos Gage that is definitely saying something!  And it goes without saying that that artwork is quite stellar as well!  These are the gems that await you at the mere touch of a screen on your phone or tablet, friends.  But I’ll challenge you to take it a step further and show support for your local comic book shop by buying the hardcopies themselves.  Read them and share them with your friends.  Spark up a conversation and be sure to leave a comment or two.  But most importantly Gatherers, remember…GGG!
